Fluorine

The element that i chose was Fluorine and it gets its name from the latin word fluo which means flow. Its chemical symbol is F, its atomic number is nine and its atomic mass is 18.998. Fluorine has 7 valence electrons and its in column 7 on the periodic table. From its location we can tell that it is a Halogen and in the same column as Chlorine and Iodine.  Fluorine is most commonly found in the mineral Fluorite which can be found in coal, rocks and clay. Florine is used to fuel rockets and prevent tooth decay. The properties that make it appropriate for that use is that It is pale yellow in color and a corrosive gas. It can react with all organic and inorganic compounds. Some compounds of Fluorine are Boron Monofluoride, Antosonite, Difluorocarbene, Fluocerite and Fluorcaphite. Fluorine was discovered by  French chemist Henri Mossan. Henri collected tghe gas by passing an electric charge through one of its compounds, hydrogen fluride. Interesting fact is that it is the only chemical to react with Xenon.

What is the best invention of all time?

There have many inventions over the years that have changed the course of our lives such as the airplane, the car and the boat. All of these inventions may seem amazing but nothing can compare to the computer and smartphone but which one is better? They both keep you connected and lighting fast but which one will seem to last the test of time? You decide and explain why the one you choose tops the other.
